A Long Expected Party, and An Unexpected Delay

I feel so horrible! This is two days late!!!
I meant to post these celebratory quotes on Monday, but alas, I was prevented from doing so.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy them now that they are up and posted.

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”

“Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?”

The Hobbit: Chapter 1: An Unexpected Journey

“When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton.”

Fellowship of the Ring: Chapter 1: A Long-Expected Party

“After the feast (more or less) came the Speech. Most of the company were, however, now in a tolerant mood, at that delightful stage which they called ‘filling up the coroners’. They were sipping their favorite drinks, and nibbling at their favorite danties, and their fears were forgotten. They were prepared to listen to anything and cheer at every full stop.”

Thirdly and finally, he said, I wish to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. He spoke this last word so loudly and suddenly that everyone sat up who still could. I regret to announce that – though as I said, eleventy-one years is far too short a time to spend among you – this is the END. I am going NOW. GOOD-BYE!
